Technical Artist AR/VR Experience Prototyper

Meta Reality Labs Research seeks a Technical Artist AR/VR Prototyper to help define the future of digital presence in the Metaverse. The role involves collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams to create immersive demos showcasing state-of-the-art AR/VR avatar technologies. These prototypes aim to inspire Meta's vision for the Metaverse over the next 5 to 10+ years.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Technical Artists and Research Engineers to integrate high-end avatars into UE AR/VR experiences.
• Develop automated online/offline systems to streamline workflows.
• Partner with scientists and researchers to define new real-time technologies.
• Test, troubleshoot, and run demos in a live lab environment.
• Participate in ideation sessions to plan and design character prototype demo experiences.

Minimum Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in VFX, feature animation, or games, focusing on data ingestion, pipeline automation, and procedural methods.
• Proficiency in visual scripting, simulations, FXs, shaders, and 3D Math fundamentals.
• Blend of technical and artistic skills (50/50).
• Familiarity with industry production processes and cross-discipline collaboration.
• Knowledge of Houdini and USD.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Visualization, or Computer Animation (or equivalent experience).
• Experience in large-scale VFX shot work and advanced math background.
• Proficiency in Houdini, Maya, and USD file formats.
• Interest in AI and experience with real-time analytics tools and visual scripting.
• Drawing skills are a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary: $130,000/year to $180,000/year.
• Includes bonus, equity, and benefits.
