Apex Systems is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to work onsite in Redmond, WA, on a 1-year contract with potential for a 2-year extension. This is a unique opportunity to work on next-generation AR/VR products, involving factory calibration, online calibration, eye tracking systems, see-through AR displays, and system integration.

Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled software engineer to lead hardware integration and automation projects within AR technology. This position involves developing scalable, reusable systems and software for hardware automation and data collection, with a strong focus on C++ and Python programming, hardware component integration, and testing/debugging.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and maintain data collection software.
  • Develop abstractions for hardware to enable scalability.
  • Interface software with hardware components and automate hardware systems.
  • Conduct testing and debugging to validate software and hardware integration.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, providing project updates.
  • Commission and operate complex measurement equipment for device calibration.
  • Design experiments for product quality validation and troubleshooting.
  • Document processes and techniques with core team guidance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Proficient in C++ and Python programming.
  • Experience with hardware components and firmware interfacing.
  • Strong problem-solving, testing, and debugging skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to gather requirements and execute software to meet stakeholder needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with real-time data pipelines for high-resolution image processing.

  • Hands-on experience with hardware interfacing (e.g., Raspberry Pi).

  • Background in robot control or mechatronics, including linear motion stages and robot arms.

  • Knowledge of camera optics and VR/AR systems.
