Lead Creative Technologist

The Lead Creative Technologist will bridge the gap between design and engineering, creating advanced digital interfaces and experiences that seamlessly integrate into Rivian's software-driven vehicles.

Role Summary

As a Creative Technologist / Design Engineer, you will collaborate with Rivian's Digital Design team to prototype and develop innovative user interfaces, animations, and features. Your work will directly impact the integration of digital and physical experiences, pushing the boundaries of automotive design.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to rapidly prototype interfaces, animations, and features that align with Rivian’s design principles.
• Translate visual and interaction designs into code, ensuring consistency across platforms.
• Enhance the design-to-engineering workflow by building reusable components, maintaining the design system, and creating detailed documentation.
• Innovate using tools like ProtoPie, AR/VR, 3D modeling, or AI-driven design tools to explore new interaction possibilities.
• Solve complex technical design challenges, ensuring performance and usability without compromising design integrity.
• Contribute to Rivian’s scalable, accessible, and maintainable design system, fostering a cohesive user experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in a Creative Technologist, Design Engineer, or Front-End Developer role, ideally within a digital product, automotive, or tech environment.
• Proficiency in front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Compose, or SwiftUI, and frameworks like React or Vue.js.
• Experience with prototyping tools (e.g., ProtoPie, Figma, Framer) and knowledge of design systems and component libraries.
• Strong design sense with attention to detail and a passion for visually compelling, intuitive digital experiences.
• Effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
• Knowledge of automotive UX or connected vehicle interfaces is a plus.

Compensation

• Salary Range for Palo Alto-Based Applicants: $167,000-$209,000 (actual compensation based on experience and other factors).
