VR Designer – Amazon Robotics

Amazon Robotics is redefining collaboration in innovation by integrating immersive technologies like Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR). As part of the Human-Centered Design Group, you’ll explore how VR/AR can transform design and engineering workflows for robotics innovation.

This co-op role is ideal for human-centered design enthusiasts passionate about leveraging cutting-edge technologies to enhance collaboration and decision-making at scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Research and Discovery: Identify and evaluate promising VR/AR technologies, software platforms, and tools for design collaboration.
• Opportunity Scouting: Explore solutions that align with Amazon Robotics' goals, focusing on interactive and immersive robotics project models.
• Prototype Demonstrations: Build and showcase functional prototypes that demonstrate potential solutions for design and engineering teams.
• Foundation Building: Develop documentation, workflows, and recommendations for integrating VR/AR into Amazon Robotics’ processes.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with UX designers, engineers, and ergonomists to refine solutions and align tools with diverse stakeholder needs.
• Vision Shaping: Contribute to the long-term strategy for scaling VR/AR technologies across Amazon Robotics teams.

Basic Qualifications

• Enrollment in or recent graduation from a degree program in Industrial Design, UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
• Demonstrated interest in VR/AR and their applications in design and engineering.
• Ability to quickly learn and evaluate new tools, platforms, and software.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Creative, experimental mindset with a passion for discovery.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with VR/AR platforms like Unity, Unreal Engine, or similar (programming skills not required but a basic understanding is a plus).
• Knowledge of 3D modeling tools (e.g., Blender, Maya, Rhino) or visualization platforms.
• Experience building workflows or systems to enhance team collaboration.
• Passion for human-centered design principles and creating user-empowering tools.
• Entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to pioneer collaborative design and engineering methods.

Compensation and Benefits

• Base Salary Range: $70,500 to $157,700 annually, depending on location and experience.
• Additional compensation may include equity, sign-on payments, and a full range of benefits.
