WHO we’re looking for:

We are looking for an XR UX Visual Interface Designer who will be responsible for being the ultimate creative facilitator, working collaboratively with a cross-disciplinary team to help users achieve their goals and fuse business insights with users' needs to craft great user experiences. You will combine the expertise of a technical designer with the human-centered perspective of an experience designer. You will bring your unique perspective to transform the R&D technology into user-centric product ideas.

At the XR UX Lab, we are envisioning the future of AR/VR experiences in the context of immersive and intelligent environments. We are a mix of interdisciplinary individuals with expertise in advanced rapid prototyping and AI-first XR user experience design. The XR UX Lab will work closely with the HQ mobile division's UX team and external partners to investigate emerging AR/VR UX technologies and deliver design artifacts that determine the direction of the upcoming XR products.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Create frameworks and systems to accelerate design work.
  • Collaborate with UX designers to demonstrate and communicate UX concepts to the multi-discipline team.
  • Create visual elements for internal communication materials and reports.

Required Experience and Education:

  • 3+ years of interface design experience working across device platforms.
  • BA/BFA in Communication Design, HCI, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience designing user interface systems or experiences that support multi-modal inputs.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating the ability to solve complex problems that meet the needs of users while supporting clearly identified business objectives and core skills across a variety of categories and formats.

Necessary Skills and Attributes:

  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to thrive in a team-based or independent environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Limited supervision and the exercise of discretion.
  • Agility in creating digital sketches/prototypes from lo-fi to hi-fi, helping the design thinking process as well as communicating concepts to team members.
  • Familiarity with Figma and other design tools.

  • Stand, clean, crawl, kneel, sit, sort, hold, squat, stoop, twist the body, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs or ladders and scaffolding, talk or hear, and lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include the ability to distinguish the nature of objects by using the eye.
  • Operate a computer keyboard and view a video display terminal between 50% - 95% of work time, including prolonged periods.
  • Requires considerable (90%+) work utilizing high visual acuity/detail, numeric/character distinction, and moderate hand/finger dexterity.

Performs work under time schedules and stress which are normally periodic or cyclical, including time-sensitive deadlines, intellectual challenges, some language barriers, and project management deadlines. May require working additional time beyond the normal schedule and periodic travel.
