About

Dolby is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to redefine how artists create immersive XR content. This role focuses on developing cutting-edge Dolby Atmos content creation tools for XR while working at the forefront of entertainment technology. You'll collaborate with industry leaders, prototype new solutions, and define immersive workflows that shape the future of XR entertainment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop advanced Dolby Atmos content creation tools for XR.
  • Design and implement immersive content creation workflows.
  • Collaborate with engineering and research teams to prototype and bring new ideas to market.
  • Work with B2B XR partners to gather professional user feedback.
  • Mentor junior engineers and shape the technical direction of the team.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and emerging XR technologies.

Candidate Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 5+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Skills:
    • Expertise in C++ or C# programming and debugging.
    • Strong experience with Unity (preferred) or Unreal Engine.
    • Familiarity with spatial audio content creation tools and DAWs such as Avid Pro Tools and Apple Logic Pro.
    • Experience developing XR applications for platforms like Meta Quest (Horizon OS) or Apple Vision Pro (visionOS).
    • Real-time programming, rendering, and optimization knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong UI/UX and user-centric design skills.
  • Proficiency in Python and pytest.
  • Experience with:
    • Live production, audio/video post-production, or game development.
    • Game audio middleware like Audiokinetic Wwise.
    • Tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve.
    • NVIDIA Omniverse Cloud and Universal Scene Description (OpenUSD).
    • Graphics APIs like Vulkan, Metal, or OpenGL.
  • Knowledge of AI-assisted software development and secure-by-design principles.
  • Passion for XR entertainment.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base Salary Range: $165,600 to $227,400 annually, depending on location and experience.
  • Additional benefits include bonus opportunities, equity (for some roles), and a comprehensive perks package.
