Software Engineer (VR/MR User Interface)

Supernatural is seeking an experienced engineer to develop 2D and 3D user interfaces for our innovative fitness app on Meta Quest. You will create interfaces within immersive VR environments and collaborate with engineers and designers to implement new interaction paradigms. Supernatural is a live service driven by daily fresh content and user activity, requiring continuous improvement and feature development.

This is an ideal role for an engineer who wants to work on a user-facing product that delivers visual immersion and life-changing fitness experiences.

Responsibilities

• Develop interactive VR experiences, including user interfaces, animations, and audio effects.
• Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate with web services and APIs for reliable performance.
• Analyze and optimize technical impacts regarding networking, memory, and processor utilization.
• Write and maintain clear documentation for all code.
• Utilize existing internal/external APIs and services effectively.
• Participate in code reviews, technical design reviews, and retrospectives to ensure best practices.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams: engineers, designers, PMs, QA, and marketing.
• Participate in on-call rotations to monitor live services, troubleshoot incidents, and respond timely.
• Support the live application operations of a subscription-based fitness service.
• Contribute to continuous release practices for rapid feature iterations.
• Integrate the live service into the Meta platform to meet privacy and integrity standards.
• Foster positive relationships with peers, customers, and seek growth opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or has a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field (must be completed before joining Meta).
• 2+ years of experience in software development, building complex, reliable applications.
• Proficiency in C# and experience with Unity, Unreal, or equivalent game engines.
• Experience working on live applications at scale with frequent shipping cycles.
• Experience with unit tests, integration tests, and other automated testing.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with web server languages like Python, PHP, Hack, Java, or Go.
• Familiarity with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL services.
• Familiarity with Meta tools such as Entschema.
• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS.
• Knowledge of database schema design.
• Experience developing mobile applications.
• Familiarity with agile software development methodologies.
• Interest in VR and Fitness.

Compensation

• $56.25/hour to $173,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits.
