About
Join Meta Reality Labs as a Research Scientist Intern, Nano-Optics (PhD) and be part of a world-class team dedicated to advancing the future of virtual and augmented reality. Our internships span 12 to 24 weeks with various start dates throughout the year.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with researchers and cross-functional partners, effectively communicating research plans, progress, and results.
- Publish research findings and contribute to projects applicable to Meta product development.
- Develop next-generation AR/VR displays, focusing on advanced simulations and prototyping to validate new concepts and assess their perceptual impact.
- Engage with the broader Meta Reality Labs Research team to explore innovative solutions for AR/VR devices.
- Investigate applications of nano-optics and polarization optics.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or in the process of obtaining a Ph.D. in Optical Science, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, Computational Imaging, or a related field.
- Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain it during employment.
- 2+ years of experience in optical research, particularly in nano-optics/nanophotonics, MEMS, or laser physics.
- 2+ years of experience in modeling and prototyping diffractive optics.
- Proficient in optical design software such as Lumerical, RSOFT, MEEP, ZEMAX, Light Tools, etc.
- 2+ years of experience in experimental optics and conducting laboratory work, including constructing proof-of-concept systems and evaluating performance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Intent to return to your degree program after the internship/co-op.
- Experience working and communicating cross-functionally in a team environment.
- Proven track record of significant achievements, demonstrated through grants, fellowships, patents, and first-authored publications in leading journals and conferences.
Compensation:
- $7,313/month to $11,293/month + benefits.
