Role Overview

Join VRChat as a Principal User Researcher to lead research initiatives that uncover user needs, motivations, and behaviors. Your insights will guide strategic decisions, fostering growth and enhancing the VRChat experience for creators, influencers, and a diverse global community.

Core Responsibilities

• Conduct qualitative and quantitative research to analyze user behavior, preferences, and trends within the VRChat ecosystem.
• Develop user segmentation strategies to target growth initiatives.
• Synthesize data from multiple sources (e.g., surveys, telemetry, feedback) into actionable insights.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, product, engineering) to integrate research findings into strategic decisions.
• Mentor team members on research methods and best practices.
• Innovate research methodologies for virtual environments.
• Advocate for a data-driven culture within the company.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Psychology, HCI, Data Science, Statistics, or related fields, or equivalent professional experience.
• Proven experience in user research, ideally in the tech or gaming industry.
• Expertise in quantitative research methods such as surveys and experiments.
• Proficiency with qualitative methods like user interviews and usability testing.
• Skilled in statistical tools (e.g., SPSS, R, Python) and data visualization.
• Experience with virtual worlds, social platforms, or Trust and Safety research is a plus.
• Strong communication skills, capable of presenting insights to diverse stakeholders.
• Proactive and self-motivated, with a passion for improving user experiences.
