About the Role

BadVR is currently seeking an Immersive UX/UI Designer to create captivating and accessible user interfaces and experiences in VR. The ideal candidate has a strong attention to detail, passion for good design, and knowledge of the Unity game engine and mobile platforms. You will work with teams across multiple disciplines to deliver best-in-class user experiences that are clear, intuitive, and universally accessible.

This position requires strong communication skills, a deep understanding of human interface design principles, and the ability to advocate for end-users at every stage of the design process. Candidates must have at least one shipped project (with a full development cycle from concept through completion).

Responsibilities

  • Communicate user experience designs through sketches, wireframes, flow diagrams, models, 2D/3D mockups, and prototypes.
  • Clearly rationalize and justify design work, advocating for user needs.
  • Create interactive product interface demos and prototypes.
  • Translate complex ideas into simple and beautiful products, interfaces, and user experiences.
  • Design and develop new 3D UI concepts using real-time rendered motion effects.
  • Collaborate with development teams to implement interactive menus and HUDs.
  • Innovate and develop original ideas for product design and development.
  • Prototype and develop new user interfaces and interactions for 3D/immersive experiences.
  • Source and create industry-level assets for UX features and improvements.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 3-5 years of experience as a UX designer, UI designer, or similar role.
  • 2+ years designing mixed reality, VR, desktop, mobile, or web applications.
  • Expertise in user-centered design principles and user testing.
  • Proficiency with design tools (Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator/After Effects/InVision).
  • Strong portfolio showcasing immersive, interactive design work.
  • Ability to prototype ideas in Adobe Suite and/or Unity.
  • Passion for AR, MR, or spatial computing platforms.
  • Experience shipping AR/MR solutions for Oculus Quest, Microsoft Hololens, and/or Magic Leap.
  • Proficiency in Unity 3D with knowledge of Unity development best practices.
  • Understanding of data structures, 3D math, C#, and the Unity asset/build pipeline.
  • Ability to work in a remote Agile development environment.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with JIRA, Confluence, or similar tools.
  • Experience with data-related products and/or services.
  • Designing enterprise products (immersive or otherwise).
  • Passion for fine arts, creative arts, or music.

Work Environment

  • Fully remote, work-from-home position.
