Founding Software Engineer

Onlykit is building the first wearable computing platform for defense and public safety. Our first product is a smart glasses and software system that make soldiers and first responders better at their jobs. We've validated an initial use case with defense and public safety customers, and are now building our first production units for field use. Our team has deep defense and engineering expertise ranging from the Pentagon to the Fortune 500.

We need a software engineer with full-stack expertise and a strong background in machine learning. You should be comfortable developing mobile applications (React / React Native/ Flutter), implementing real-time AI inference systems, and optimizing ML models for edge deployment. You'll be working on everything from cloud infrastructure to on-device applications, with a focus on creating reliable, high-performance systems that work in challenging environments.

Key technical requirements

• Experience building and shipping production web & mobile applications
• Strong full-stack development background (backend services, APIs, databases)
• Proven track record in training and fine-tuning ML models, particularly for computer vision or audio processing
• Familiarity with edge AI deployment and optimization techniques
• Experience with real-time systems and performance optimization

Bonus points if you have experience with

• Edge ML frameworks
• Vision and classification
• Defense or public safety applications

Additional Information

Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident to apply. Open to applicants across the United States. We're willing to do a remote contract to hire gig to start, but for the full time role, you must be willing to move to the SF Bay Area (we'll pay moving costs). And if you've made it this far - compensation will be extraordinarily generous in terms of cash and equity.
