About
As part of MPS (Mobile Platform Services) and Samsung Research America (SRA), you will join the Immersive Experiences (IMEX) Team focusing on Framework, Runtime, and SDK for XR (AR, MR, VR) technologies. Our mission includes building next-generation head-mounted displays and Intelligent Glasses, shaping Samsung’s vision for the future.
Position Summary
The Director, XR will collaborate with teams in Mountain View and Suwon to successfully launch XR devices. This role focuses on Runtime and Software Framework development for XR devices, driving the release of commercial-level products.
Responsibilities
- Design, architect, and lead the development of new features for XR devices.
- Collaborate with hardware and software experts to drive the strategic direction of XR features.
- Identify opportunities, prototype POCs, and implement compelling features for the XR platform, meeting KPIs for product launches.
- Lead efforts across core framework, runtime, display pipeline, UI toolkit, animations, and Avatar experiences for the XR platform.
- Explore and implement efficient 3D algorithms, platform optimizations, and XR application improvements.
Required Skills
- Master’s or PhD in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 15+ years of software development experience, with expertise in XR technologies.
- Hands-on experience with Android OS on ARM processors.
- In-depth understanding of XR software platforms, including the display graphics pipeline, framework, and runtime.
- Expertise in perception and graphics pipelines, GPGPU computing with OpenGL/Vulkan.
- Experience with deep learning CV algorithms and ML libraries running on NPU.
- Familiarity with Avatar solutions, including head, hands, eyes, and facial expression tracking.
- Proficiency with Android developer toolkit, UI toolkit, profiling/debugging tools, and build systems.
- Comprehensive knowledge of software development cycles, including prototyping, implementation, testing, and delivery.
- Proven ability to partition solutions across hardware and software within a systems solution.
- Hands-on experience with XR devices such as Quest, Vision Pro, Pico, Vive, HoloLens, and Magic Leap.
- Strong teamwork, communication skills, and ability to mentor team members.
- Expertise in C/C++, object-oriented design, and agile processes.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base Pay Range: $224,200—$340,000 USD
- Annual bonus eligibility and generous benefits package included.
