Creative Technologist II

A Creative Technologist II at Deeplocal works at the intersection of design, experience, and engineering. This early career role focuses on supporting projects in production through software development, research, installation, and monitoring. You’ll have opportunities to work on a variety of consumer-facing projects for brands such as Google, Microsoft, and Netflix.

Responsibilities

Project Tasks

• Perform software development with supervision and peer review, delivering quality code.
• Own larger components with minimal direction.
• Assist with on-site installation work and maintenance.
• Perform QA, user experience testing, and basic configuration of software packages.
• Document processes to get code running.
• Contribute to the architecture and planning of projects, led by project leads.

General Contributions

• Research and prototype proposed solutions.
• Contribute to creative ideation during early project phases.
• Escalate significant issues to project leads.
• Actively build skills in software platforms and creative technology knowledge.

Required Skills

• Strong development skills, with expert-level knowledge in at least one language and framework.
• Familiarity with hardware-software communication (microcontrollers, sensors, screens, etc.).
• Experience as a full-stack developer, with a focus on one software platform and general knowledge of others.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with clients.
• Creative thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving capabilities.

Preferred Skills

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience (2-5 years typical).
• Experience in creative software development, such as generative graphics or programmatic motion/sound design.
• Proficiency with creative development platforms like Unreal Engine, TouchDesigner, or Three.js.
• Familiarity with React and Node.js.
• Experience with AI tools (e.g., LLMs, Stable Diffusion).

Location

• Pittsburgh, PA-based with hybrid flexibility. On-site work required for hardware interaction.
